Two foreigners caused a disturbance on Walking Street in South Pattaya during Songkran celebrations early on Sunday after using a fire extinguisher to spray at bystanders and motorcycles, leaving a trail of chemical residue and damage.

The incident happened at around 5am and was captured on video, which quickly spread across a popular local Facebook group.

One post described the behaviour as unacceptable and noted that the pair had sprayed the extinguisher around and caused trouble throughout the area.

Reporters at the scene observed several motorcycles coated in white chemical residue from the extinguisher, with visible damage to seats and bodywork, consistent with the footage circulating online.

Bystanders were critical of the men’s actions and openly voiced their displeasure.

Security personnel intervened to calm the crowd and warned the two men about their conduct. The pair then abandoned the extinguisher and left the scene before police arrived.

A 43 year old motorcycle taxi rider, Orn, said the whole thing unfolded in seconds.

“I saw two foreign men carrying a fire extinguisher and spraying it straight away. It happened so fast no one could stop them,” she said.

Where the men obtained the extinguisher remains unknown.

Police are searching for the two men as investigations continue, reported Bangkok Post.

In another separate incident, Thai police recorded 2,617 drink-driving cases on April 10, the first day of Songkran, as millions took to the roads for the holiday. Of these, 26 were repeat offenders facing higher penalties. Total enforcement of the “10 bitter pills” covering major traffic offences reached 67,803 cases, with the top violations being no helmet (15,994), speeding (13,450), and no seatbelt (3,809).

Bangkok saw higher speeds due to reduced traffic volumes, prompting safety warnings from police who urged residents to take extra care. Authorities called on the public to plan journeys in advance, maintain roadworthy vehicles, and drive responsibly. Motorists can reach traffic police at 1197, highway police at 1193, or the Royal Thai Police at 191 and 1599, all available around the clock.
