A nine year old boy got his leg trapped between rocks while playing at a waterfall in Sung Noen district, Nakhon Ratchasima, causing panic among onlookers.
The incident occurred at 3.07pm on May 1, when rescue services from the Sawang Sang Dhamma Foundation were notified about a boy injured and unable to free himself at Wang Nen Waterfall in Makluea Kao subdistrict.
Upon arrival, the rescue team found the boy with his right leg firmly wedged between rocks in the middle of the stream. Initial inquiries revealed he had slipped while playing in the water, causing his leg to become stuck. Rescuers freed him without much delay.
The boy was conscious but complained of pain in his right leg. After first aid was administered, he was transported to Sung Noen Hospital for examination.
Rescue services advised residents, particularly parents, to closely supervise their children when visiting natural water sites, as hidden rocks and strong currents can pose a risk of accidents, reported KhaoSod.
In another separated incident, a 30 year old Italian man was rescued after slipping on rocks at Na Mueang Waterfall 2 in Koh Samui, injuring his hips and legs. Rescuers from the Samui District Administrative Office and medical workers hiked to the third tier of the waterfall, spending over three hours carrying him out on a stretcher. He was transferred to Koh Samui Hospital; his condition has not been made public. The island has seen multiple waterfall accidents, including two fatalities at Na Mueang. Authorities have installed warning signs, but incidents continue to be reported.
