PAG-ASA ISLAND — The Atin Ito Coalition on Sunday carried out the first jetski flag ride in the waters off Pag-asa Island, a key highlight of its fourth civilian mission to the West Philippine Sea.

The symbolic activity reinforced the group’s continued push to assert the Philippines’ sovereign rights and territorial integrity through peaceful civilian action amid China’s persistent presence in the area.

Akbayan Rep. Dadah Kiram Ismula, who led the Atin Ito jetski flag ride activity, said in Filipino: “Because a Mindanaoan promised and took a jetski ride in the West Philippine Sea, another Mindanaoan and a woman today stood up to do this for our country.”

Atin Ito’s latest civilian mission runs from April 30 to May 5, 2026, and includes the delivery of fuel and food supplies, medical missions, cultural activities, and island visits, among others.

Supplies were turned over to Mayor Billy Alindogan and Vice Mayor MP Albayda of Kalayaan, Palawan.

The supplies were likewise handed over to Larry “King Fisher” Hugo, fisherfolk representative of Pag-asa Island, and Nonoy Camacho, founding president of the Samakko Organization.

“This is a big help; the gasoline and diesel are a big help for fisherfolk because diesel and gasoline are already expensive, and we are having a hard time buying them,” said Hugo, who has lived in Pag-asa for 17 years. /mcm
