Motorists have been warned of significant traffic disruptions expected in Orlando, Soweto, on Saturday, 16 May 2026.

The disruptions are linked to the Betway Premiership fixture between Orlando Pirates FC and Durban City FC.

To ensure public safety and maintain order, Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD) officers will be deployed at key intersections to facilitate traffic flow around the Orlando Stadium precinct.

JMPD spokesperson Xolani Fihla said road closures will come into effect from 10:30am on Saturday.

Heavy traffic is expected along the following routes:

  • N17
  • Soweto Highway
  • Klipspruit Valley Road
  • Martha Louw Street
  • Mooki Street
  • Sofasonke Street
  • Kumalo Main Road

“To ensure a universal sense of safety and security, Klipspruit Valley Road will be converted into a one-way street running from Martha Louw Street towards the N17 traffic circle,” said Fihla.
