- SASSA Child Support (up from R560 to R580 in April 2026), is paid to more than 13-million qualifying households with children under the age of 18.
- As ever, due to its sheer numbers, this is the most expensive SASSA grant paid out by government.
- To be eligible, you must be a caregiver of a child that earns no more than R5 100 per month, or R61 200 per year.

WHAT ABOUT FOSTER CHILD AND CARE DEPENDENCY?
June 2026 SASSA Children’s Grants also include SASSA Foster Child and SASSA Care Dependency Grants. As titled, the former is only for court-appointed homes caring for foster children. And this grant also increased in April 2026 by R40 from R1 250 to R1 290.
The latter, SASSA Care Dependency, is for mentally and/or physically disabled children under the age of 18. As such, this pays the same as adult SASSA Disability, so it, too, increased by R80 from R2 320 to R2 400. As ever, whether temporary or permanent, status must be determined by a state-appointed doctor.
