‘He must think it’s 2018’: Bongani Fassie’s performance slammed

On 2 May, Bongani Fassie performed his heart out on Morning Live, but his fans dragged his “outdated” dance moves, such as the vosho and what appeared to be moves inspired by Michael Jackson.

The acclaimed musician and reality TV star was promoting his latest single and EP called Skomline.

BONGANI FASSIE DRAGGED OVER LATEST PERFORMANCE

People flooded the comments section of a post by @bab_hlabisa on X, expressing their views on Bongani’s performance and his work ethic.

Based on the promotional content for the EP, Bongani described his creative dance moves as “no choreography,” indicating that he flows with the rhythm of the song.

BONGANI: ‘I JUST HAD TO GO BACK TO THE DRAWING BOARD’

During the Morning Live interview, the former Jozi group member said the following about his new and personal musical project:

“I had to go back to the drawing board. Brenda Fassie, my late mother, used to always include anything from her hometown. She connected to the people in her hometown,” he began.

“Langa is where I am from, and Skomline is the nickname of Langa,” he added.

NOT THE FIRST TIME DRAWING ATTENTION WITH HIS MUSIC

Bongani, who is reportedly quite a big spender and the only child of the iconic musician Brenda Fassie, is no stranger to controversy.

In 2015, he released a quite provocative song titled Stretcher featuring Shae Mix and PusherBeats. He basically dissed fellow hip hop artists such as Maggz, K.O, and Slikour, among others.

Thabiso Khathi, co-founder of Cashtime Life, stated that the Cashtime rappers will not respond to the diss track, adding that Bongani isn’t honouring his mother’s legacy.

“I think he’s only hyped because Brenda was a legend, and he’s Brenda’s kid, and this is the only reason people are giving him attention,” he said.

“He’s actually doing his mother a great disservice right now. He should just shut up,” he added.
