At 22, graduate student Ran Xing is compelled to pose as the fortune-teller “Mr. Yue” after her sister is sent to prison, sneaking into the affluent Ye family to carry out a mission involving the theft of a toothbrush. Along the way, she must navigate the complicated identity of her boyfriend Pu Yubai, internal conflicts within the Ye family, and the constant probing of Ye Zhaoning.
Through a series of crises and misunderstandings, Ran Xing gradually gains Ye Zhaoning’s trust and comes to recognize the true nature of her own emotions. In the end, she reveals her identity, cuts ties with Pu Yubai, and chooses to stand on her own, completing her studies and building her career. Three years later, she has become a psychological counselor, helping others heal, and upon reuniting with the now more mature Ye Zhaoning, they break through class barriers and past grievances to embark on a new romantic journey.
