- The South African Weather Service has issued a level 2 warning for severe thunderstorms across several provinces.
- Heavy rain, lightning, hail and strong winds are expected on Monday.
- Residents are urged to prepare for potentially disruptive weather conditions.
Warmer days are coming to an end, and soon many will be taking out their boots to keep warm. However, changing weather conditions this week could also disrupt daily plans.
The South African Weather Service (SAWS) has issued a yellow level 2 warning for storms in the North West, Gauteng, Mpumalanga, Free State and KwaZulu-Natal.
The public has been warned of severe thunderstorms in these provinces on Monday, 13 April 2026, with heavy rain, lightning, hail and damaging winds expected.
Here’s the weather outlook for Monday, 13 April 2026:
If you are in Gauteng and Mpumalanga, you can expect cloudy conditions, ranging from cool to warm, with scattered showers and thundershowers.
Limpopo:
Partly cloudy and warm, with isolated showers and thundershowers over the southern parts.
North West:
Cloudy and warm, with widespread showers and thundershowers, but scattered in the extreme east.
Free State:
Cloudy and cool to warm, with widespread showers and thundershowers.
Northern Cape:
Morning fog along the northern coastal areas, otherwise fine and cool to warm. It will be partly cloudy in the east, with isolated showers and thundershowers, becoming scattered in the extreme east.
Western Cape:
Partly cloudy in the north-east at first, with morning fog in places, otherwise fine and warm but cool along the coast.
Eastern Cape:
Cloudy with morning fog, otherwise fine and cool, becoming partly cloudy in the north with isolated showers and thundershowers. Winds along the coast will be light north-westerly, becoming moderate westerly in the afternoon.
KwaZulu-Natal:
Partly cloudy to cloudy and cool to warm, with widespread showers and thundershowers, but scattered in the south. Winds along the coast will be light to moderate northerly to north-westerly in the north, otherwise southerly to south-westerly, spreading northwards from mid-morning.
