PARKLANDS COLLEGE TEACHER POSTS TOUCHING TRIBUTE

Connor Niske’s untimely death has left Parklands College and other Cape Town schools reeling in shock and sadness.

Many social media posts have praised Connor’s admirable character, which serves as a lasting legacy.

On Facebook, Parklands College music teacher Alexis Matsimela posted a touching tribute about Connor Niske.

She shared: “Connor really made the most of every opportunity! Did not shy away from hardwork, even the unseen and unrewarded hardwork – like the striking of a stage when all the musicians and friends were long gone!

“Connor’s reach was far and wide, be it in service, or robotics, or sound engineering. Our steadfast learner helped practically every concert, weekly assembly soundcheck since he was Grade 7!”

The Cape Town teacher applauded Niske for being dedicated and “giving 150% to all he committed to”

She continued: “[He] took initiative and saved the day many, many, many times, be it for a seminar, workshop, soundcheck, rehearsal, performance or finding anyone or anything on campus! But most of all, a kind, generous human with a heart of gold.”

This year, Connor Niske was awarded gold in the President’s Award for Youth Empowerment, a prestigious personal development programme for young people aged 14–24 linked to the global Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award.

The programme recognises character, commitment, and growth beyond the classroom.

The programme credits Connor for achieving gold status by completing an 80km hike over four days on Table Mountain—testing both his endurance and mental strength.
