Zim influencer Ndoyisile Sibindi breaks silence on immigration ‘arrest’

Zimbabwean-born influencer Ndoyisile Sibindi has shut down “fake news” reports that immigration officials have arrested him over his status in the country. This comes after the content creator’s video audition for the Top Billing presenter search went viral.

NDOYISILE SIBINDI SHUTS DOWN ARREST REPORTS

On social media, reports that Ndoyisile Sibindi had been arrested over allegations of an illegal immigration status.

Various accounts, including that of Operation Dudula, claimed that the Zimbabwean content creator was likely to be deported.

However, the flamboyant influencer claimed that the reports were all wrong.

On his Facebook account, Ndoyisile Sibindi claimed that rumours he was in a “holding cell” were “lies”.

He posted: “This should open your eyes about the people who love spreading gossip. They will write anything to get views”

He added in another post: “I’m just thinking of how cruel some people are🙌. The things I’m reading about myself that I don’t even know”.

DID NDOYISILE SIBINDI SEEK ASYLUM IN SOUTH AFRICA?

According to reports, Ndoyisile Sibindi sought asylum in South Africa after fleeing from homophobic attacks in his home country of Zimbabwe.

Speaking to ViceVersa Global in 2022, he claimed that his family had disowned him, leaving him to fend for himself. He has settled in Johannesburg, where he has now established his own fashion line.

He said: “I was born in a homophobic country. I didn’t choose to be who I am, I was born this way. I cannot live in pretence. I cannot change, and I wonder why society can’t just accept us for who we are”.

BACKLASH FROM SOUTH AFRICANS

Apart from his viral Top Billing audition, Ndoyisile Sibindi is known for his controversial social media comments.

Last year, Ndoyisile was dragged over a video of him criticising township residents for “overcrowding” the Mall of the South in Midrand.

In the clip, he said: “People are just gallivanting, they are occupying the mall for no reason. It’s so uncomfortable for us, who are claustrophobic”

He later apologised in a follow-up video, claiming the skit was a “joke”.

The content creator – who has over one million followers on TikTok – also stoked flames after questioning why public healthcare was being denied to foreign nationals living in South Africa.
